Game Masters in Pittsburgh PA

I’m excited to talk about more board game stores in Pittsburgh.

Game Masters in Pittsburgh PA

Earlier this year, I had the delight to meet Phil Glotfelty and his lovely young daughter from Game Masters http://www.gamemasterspgh.com/ at Steel City Con in April of 2018. I was particularly happy to meet a kindred spirit that understood the enjoyment of board games. Phil isn’t someone that just sells board games and RPG miniatures, he really wants to fit people with the kinds of games that they enjoy most. He’s even willing to call other board game locations just to find what you’re looking for.

These board games look a little too much for me

Phil has probably the best descriptions for the games we both enjoy. He said most games at department stores are more binary. Roll the dice and move. Pick a card and read trivia. But the sort of games he offers he identifies as multiple choice. I can pick a card or I can focus on collecting resources or I can send my opponent back.

People might pass by his shop thinking these games are too hard or too complex. Well, its true, there are some. We both agree we wouldn’t put a copy of “Tigris & Euphrates” in front of a new comer but he will tell those new to board games to keep in mind these games were designed for you to be fun. If you see a game you like but not sure how to play it or would like to try it out first, see Phil and he’ll help you out.

Don’t be shy coming in. Phil, his crew and even his customers are very welcoming and excited to teach you new game.

Game days at Game Masters

Game Masters has a board game night every Tuesday from 6pm to close. They have lots of gaming tables to accomodate for a small fee. Check out their schedule

Board Games Rentals

Not sure you want to buy something you haven’t played before? Phil has a huge library of games you can check out. Rental fee is substracted from the cost of the game if you decide to buy it. What a deal!

I help run the Tuesday night games meetup and, it’s true, we’re a welcoming lot 🙂

Sorry, I had no idea you replied, because my comment never showed. I only checked back because I got an email from a group on meetup about this site. We’re doing alternate nights, yes, but they’re at private individuals’ homes, and not open to the public. If you’re interested in making the regular group times, PM me your email on meetup, and I’ll add you to the mailing list.
